{"id":2956,"date":"2024-09-07T05:05:35","date_gmt":"2024-09-07T05:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meditationmag.com\/blog\/?p=2956"},"modified":"2024-09-07T16:35:07","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T16:35:07","slug":"the-moment-i-realized-i-was-a-corporate-robot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meditationmag.com\/blog\/the-moment-i-realized-i-was-a-corporate-robot\/","title":{"rendered":"The Moment I Realized I Was A Corporate Robot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I want to tell you about the moment I realized I was a corporate robot\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moment I realized I needed to make a drastic change, that led to my current spiritual career path, as the founder of Meditation Magazine and Meditation University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>I was the COO of a Real Estate Tech startup<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were building a \u201crevolutionary app,\u201d for commercial real estate.<br><br>I was interviewing a coder to join our dev team. I asked questions. He answered robotically.<br><br>His face looked checked out, like he didn\u2019t really want to be there.<br><br>Like he wasn\u2019t even there with me in that moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like this wasn\u2019t where he was meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A feeling of disgust arose in my stomach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought I was disgusted with this coder, but then I realized\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I was disgusted with myself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I realized\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was asking my questions robotically as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I didn\u2019t really want to be there either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This wasn\u2019t where I was meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here we sat, two robots<\/strong>,<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facing each other across the shining mahogany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our minds and hearts worlds apart, separated by an expanse of apathy,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But united in our shared unconsciousness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of BEING ALIVE ON A PLANET, in a Universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In that moment, I woke up<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I looked around and saw other robots, typing away at their computers,<br><br>Faces blank and unenthusiastic, working on things they didn\u2019t really care about,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chained to their paychecks, sacrificing the days of their lives,<br><br>Working to sustain expensive lifestyles,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because that\u2019s how they were told they were supposed to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In that moment, I realized<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I couldn\u2019t stay in this job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I couldn\u2019t continue following this path,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For who-knows-how-many-years into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I knew in my gut that I shouldn\u2019t spend my life working on something I didn\u2019t care about,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building something that only rich people would use,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Helping people who didn\u2019t really need help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was born on this planet to LIVE ON THIS PLANET,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not to stare at a screen in an office under florescent lights,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But to marvel at the sun setting over the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was born to eat meals with my loved ones,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not to shovel food into my mouth as I worked at my desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I knew in that moment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I needed to forge my own path,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To work on something that I personally cared about,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To build something that I was truly proud of,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To actually make the world a better place,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help people that really needed my help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For me, it had to be meditation<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meditation is the core of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meditation lifted me out of anxiety & depression in college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It keeps me grounded in reality, not lost in thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It helps me stay focused on my priorities and live a happy life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It connects me with the core of Existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It reminds me that I am ALIVE,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I can feel GRATEFUL for every moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I don\u2019t miss my life in the chaos of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I don\u2019t lose my soul in the corporate haze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>That\u2019s when I started <em>Meditation Magazine<\/em><\/strong>,<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A project that allowed me to transition from corporate robot to meditation professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, I\u2019ve traveled the world interviewing gurus,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Created meditation courses that have helped over 200,000 people,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published many magazines and books about meditation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And founded Meditation University,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
